Good info, Primal! I know there is info somewhere here on the site, but it makes sense to have it stickied.

Folks, this stuff is great. Sea salt soaks are awesome- I use Dead Sea salts from Israel- here is the link. It's also great in baths for soaking your whole body.

Cloud said "The current thinking is that turning is harmful to the delicate healing skin inside the piercing; so--no need to turn, and especially don't force them to turn. If they turn by themselves, fine." That is such good advice. I learned the hard way and my initial piercing took twice as long to heal. Cloud, the only question I have is what if the skin around the piercings starts to attach itself? I carefully removed it but I basically had to go through the healing process again. Is there an easier way? u:0)

No, I would not recommend twisting your jewelry. If it moves freely within the piercing when you are washing it, fine, but don't force it. And don't touch it with dirty hands!

NO twisting or rotating of jewelry!
you DO NOT need to get soap, saline, etc inside the wound. your body will take care of the inside.
Rotating only serves to tear apart newly forming cells and cellular connections.

if you are worried about particles, etc that may have gotten inside, do warm saline soaks to help discharge them.

Pete--you're replying to this person's 6 month old query? They've never even been back to the site. But we appreciate it!
