Piercings and flying!

Postby Tombstone » Thu Aug 04, 2016 9:28 am

I have never had any trouble with mine at my courthouse or at the airport. However, I did a "bling bing-bing" at the bigger courthouse in the next county. No questions were asked there either, though I caught signals being flashed between the officers manning the equipment.

I think most systems show them a magnetic picture. I do one thing most guys do not do often though. The last, meaning top, item I place in the pocket-trash bowl is a spare ring sealed in a sterilization pouch that is clearly labeled "Spare Ring." Now I have enough metal BTB that all I am doing is carrying spare parts just in case i lose a segment or ball, and letting them know what those circles down there are. Besides, I'm sure there are some guys new to the screening job who would like to see a PA. Be nice and show it to them! Those stories you hear of removal being required are from the early days before the screeners got very well trained in their jobs.

I was pulled aside in Jacksonville last year, even though I say when I go through a back scatter machine that I'm going to set it off. The TSA officers just asked me some questions but declined my offer to show off my metal (just 11 items at the time). I'd seen the green square in my crotch at other times, but was always waved on through after explaining why I set the machine off. I prefer a regular less-sensitive metal detector so I paid for TSA's PreChek so I get those machines instead of the back scatter devices. Plus I can my belt and shoes on.

I was stopped at the Portland airport and they told me that there was a "hot-spot" on the scan. I informed the agent that I have a PA piercing and she said "a what?" I explained that I have a ring in my dick and she said "ok sir, have a pleasant flight", and that was the end of that.

Ha ha painthreshhold, yeah I kinda want to show 'n prove too! I'll be flying from Spain to Morocco this Summer, so I'm kinda worried about things there, so I'll probably just take my PA out for that one, but leaving the U.S., I'm leaving it in.

New TRIBE member here as of today, by the way. Great community! I'll post my PA experience post in the appropriate place here in a bit.

Last fall I flew to Amsterdam with no problems (14 rings in my scrotum--2 to 00 gauge). Flying back to the Us through Basel and Munich were no problems either. I highly recommend Pre-Check as you just go through scanners, not backscatter macines.
