As long as you trim things you are fine. You just don't want any hair to be able to get tangled in the jewelry.
The pain is minimal and the healing is crazy fast....just wash well before you go, find a piercer you trust and there wont be ANY awkward feeling and if you want, bring a wet wipe to use just before you get pierced. :)

thank you so much! My husband of 14yrs is intrigued, and I've just started doing my research. the finding someone you trust part is probably going to be that hard part! can you recommend any search resources? APP has turned up only 2 or 3 shops in my state (missouri). it's kind of tricky to find people to ask about "recommendations"... LOL I don't personally know many women with obvious body mods to ask -

Hi Jemez,
Many women are suited to the VCH, hence its popularity. Finding the piercer is the most difficult part; they will have seen as many genitals as a gynaecologist. They really won't be interested any further than a professionsl sense, i.e., are you anatomically suited to the piercing??
Its over in seconds and not clamping your legs shut when the spike goes through...
I was 43 when I got mine. DOH loves it. Your probably will too.

I'm considering a vch - i'm 44yo, and am more terrified of the piercing experience and my own body issues with a 'stranger' than i am about having the actual vch in place. any suggestions appreciated - :O

I'm very interested in having my clitoral hood pierced but I keep reading that you have to be "anatomically suited". I've browsed through several pics on this site in search of someone who has simlar anatomical structure- to say that to say this, "How offbeat does your anatomy have to be to not qualify?" Thank you in advance for your wisdom ladies.

Most women can get vertical hoods and slightly less can get horizontal hoods.
I am sti not 100% sure how to be de-qualified, but I am exempt from a VCH although I have an HCH.

BadKiTty: Thanks for the info. I was able to do some more research and it appears that the actual clitoral piercing is the "special" club more so than the hood. Now I just have to work up the courage. I blessed to be fairly moist 24/7 and my clit is fairly tucked in (I have almost no inner labia) and I'm scared about getting infected.b
