How difficult can it be?

Postby piercingcraze » Wed Aug 03, 2016 9:39 pm

I can relate to your dilemma. I'm currently 29 years old. About 6 years ago I took the plunge and pierced my ears. At the time I was still living at home with my parents. They were out of town for several weeks. I called my parents and told them that I had my ears pierced! They cussed me out and weren't nice at all (definitely an understatement)! Several weeks went by and upon their arrival home I had placed small clear retainers in my still healing earlobes. They again cussed at me and were extremely mad even though they were barely noticeable. Fast forward several months and now my ears were healed. My parents, even though I didn't have any earrings in my ears when around them, would still make snide and degrading comments. About a year later I moved out to my own place. Now I can wear earrings most of the time. However when my parents or brother comes to visit (which is fairly often since my house is only 2 miles down the road) I still remove my earrings. Now that it's 6 years later I finally don't get tons of harassing about my pierced ears but they still occasionally make a snide comment. I still don't wear earrings around my parents. To this day my parents/brothers reactions are the only very negative experience I've had. My good friend said he didn't care for it when I first got it but has never said anything since. My fiancé likes me to wear earrings and thinks I should just keep them in whenever my parents are around and that they would get over it eventually. However she has noted it's a bit unusual how long they hold onto things that are on their minds. Most people don't say anything about them and I think many don't even notice/care one way or the other.

Right now I just started a new career and I've been trying to decide if I should wear them to work or leave them out. So far I haven't yet worn them to work. I did ask my boss if they were allowed or if it would affect my career advancement. He said he wasn't sure but would find out. That was only last week I asked, but so far he hasn't answered. So I'm taking it that it's best I leave my earrings at home. My previous employer didn't care but it was never going to be anything more than only a transit job for me.

Needles to say my parents/brother don't know about any of my other piercings except my tongue (that's an entirely longer story!). I have no intention of them discovering any more either. They just won't live and let live.

I've rambled a lot... Can't tell you what to do only that I do really enjoy my piercings. It's not always an easy road to go down...

I have both lobes pierced and when I first got them done my parents and sister were extremely angry with me. We did not speak for about 3 days. My mother told me she was disappointed in me and butted heads about it for a long time. Since getting them come which was about 5 years ago, they have accepted them and no longer say anything about them. I wear them every chance I get since I cannot wear them at work as my boss is very against guys with visible piercings or tattoos.

Good luck with your decision. Don't let others dictate what you do. Have to do what makes you happy.

When I got helix pierced, I posted it on Facebook. And most of my family was supportive. My youngest sister was surprised that I actually did it. My younger adoptive sister was "Go Richard". My older adoptive sister was shocked that I got pierced, and asked me why I got it pierced, because I wanted to. My older brother really hasn't reacted to it yet, but will probably be surprised by it, but probably won't say anything to negative especially what with him having previously pierced his nipples, ears and tongue.

Hmmm... I wonder what they would say if they knew what was going on down below.

I'm betting Big Brother has some things going-on btb too. At least, here where I live, nips, ears and tongue is a near-guarantee of below the buckle activity in a piercing shop, too.

Well in the end I just couldn't do it. Maybe I should go for a nipple instead!

Can't go wrong with nipple piercings. I've had mine for going on two years now and other than taking a while to heal, I have absolutely no regrets about having them pierced.
The box said "Requires Windows XP or better", so I bought a Mac.

If it is something you really want, you'll do it when the time is right for you.

I did nips 2 ears ago followed by PA one week later. I have wanted ears pierced since in high school back in the 70's. made the decision almost two years ago and am so glad, stretched from 8g to 2g which is where I will stay at.

The 2 gauge flesh tunnel eyelets is exactly the look I wanted and have wanted for many years. I kind of got to a point where I didn't care what my employer thought and I am not looking for future advancement at work, I am looking to retire by the time I am 60 or sooner, 57 right now.

My Company would have an HR nightmare if they said guys couldn't have earrings but girls can. Just came from our national sales conference with 3000+ employees, we have this every 3 years and I noticed several more guys sporting earrings than in the past.
