Genital piercings (PDBs) and rippage/accidents

Postby phalaeo » Mon May 12, 2008 3:00 pm

EDITED TO ADD (1-18-09):
New to Tribe? Please post your specific questions in their own thread, to help keep threads on topic. I will start deleting questions not related to the topic at hand. This thread is to discuss genital piercings AND rippage/incidents ONLY.

I've been hearing a fair bit recently about piercings catching and ripping. Here's a thread with some advice to minimize the occurrence of having a ripped piercing, and what to do if it happens to you.

1. Genital piercings, or "Piercings Down Below"- If both you and your partner have genital piercings, make sure you both make the decision to have either rings or barbells. Do not mix the two. For instance, a woman should not have a barbell in a VCH and be having sex with a man with rings in his frenum ladder. It will only be a matter of time before you catch. All rings or all barbells.

2. Mind your other piercings- If you have a septum piercing, and have a circular barbell in, and you are performing oral sex on a male or female with a barbell piercing, for God's sake, flip that bastard up. Yes, you can catch your nose on your partner's genital piercing.

3. Again-proper jewelry- I was just in chat with someone who had a circular barbell in a belly button piercing, and she got it caught on her boyfriend's PA and it ripped out. Unfortunately, her piercer did not inform her of the proper jewelry to be wearing in that piercing- It was an accident, certainly, but it may have saved his piercing if she was informed to wear only a banana-bell or J-curve barbell. Make sure you are aware of all other piercings at all times when both of you are pierced.

4. If you have a rip or tear- GO TO HOSPITAL! You do NOT want that stuff healing improperly, especially if it is a torn transurethral piercing such as a Prince Albert or Apadravya. Never mind the embarrassment, this is your JUNK we're talking about.

As always, if you have any experiences to share or further advice, d o not hesitate to add it on to this thread, and be careful!

This is mostly to which Phal was reffering to, and it's good advice, which I give all the time. Straight BBs and circulars or rings are USUSALLY ok, unless the BB can easilly fit inside the ring. But keep circulars and CBRs away from eachother, unless you want problems like this.
I'll come up with something later...

This is something most people don't think about - but lubricating the jewelry can help with movement and can help to prevent sharp movements and help things slide more easily. A little oil around the holes, kids. My piercer recommends jojoba oil. I use a combination of macadamia nut, jojoba, kukui nut, aloe, vitamin e, and about every other glorious ingredient you could hope for. :)

Good idea, but a reminder that oil based lubricants can make holes in condoms. Of course, if you are wearing a condom, you're reducing the risk of tangling...

I've recently tried a brand of lubricant called Liquid Silk- it appears to not dry out or get sticky after a while like KY or Astroglide and it is water based.

There is also the issue of the possibility that jewelry may increase rippage of condoms---not proven, but something to be aware of for the male.

Also, thanks to Redhawk- I PMed him asking for permission to link their story to this thread... I didn't want to link a private story without him being aware that I was doing so.

There is a lube called "IQ" I think. It is just like that Phal, slippy but doesn't get dry or sticky. Very good stuff. AND its water based.
Never miss someone from your past - there is a reason they did not make it to your future.

Yah, maybe your warnings are prudential. But I have noticed that PDB are not so touchy as you might think. PDB are not so fragile. Just trust me on this.
