Piercings and flying!

Postby stealer » Tue Sep 04, 2012 6:54 am

I just flew the other day. Never set anything off with my three PDB's.
The box said "Requires Windows XP or better", so I bought a Mac.

Just wanted to add that I have a titanium PA and have been through multiple metal detectors and backscatter machines and have never set one off or been questioned or pulled aside. Wouldn't worry about it at all.

I flew and just took a cruise, never set off an alarm for the jewelry, but I did set off the ship's detector for brushing the side support on the way through.

I worked with the TSA agent, he needs to leave them, as long as they know you the OK.
My two cents worth

This has been a concern for me since I got my first piercing in July. I read stories of people able to get thru with stainless steel jewelry some not being able to get thu. People having to take out their piercings, etc. I feel like TSA should take a good look at how to appropriately treat people with piercings so that we do not have to endure such extreme scrutiny and embarrassment (although from what I have read majority of you have no issue with revaling your piercings, lol) when trying to fly especially if you are with people who do not know of your extras. There has to be a better way

A report from my latest trip: both airports had the see through/backscatter machines. They saw the jewelry, but waived me through both times without even a pat down. I think they're getting used to/better at spotting the body jewelry.

Just wanted to share my experience- I went through airport security with titanium nipple barbells, through a metal detector, and they didn't set anything off.
The airport I'm returning to school from will have a backscatter machine so I'll update again in ~2 weeks.

e: I didnt set anything off with the backscatter machine either.
