Coolest I could find on the internet! Only time I had a mohawk was a joke getting played on me by my nephew and my barber!

Update: I've started work. Apparently men can have their ears pierced but none of my bosses wear earrings so I've been hesitant.

PC, I did not get my ears pierced til I was in my late late 50s. That does not mean I ever hesitated to hire, train, or promote young people who had piercings just because I did not have mine pierced. Same with tattoos, though I got my first tat a few (4) years sooner than I did my ear piercing thing. I would not worry about it at all if it is in the handbook.

I was not entirely joking earlier about wearing company-image ear jewelry to further break the ice. I think the biggest danger you would face is being seen as a trend setter ... a leader ... if other guys already there who have pierced ears follow your lead.

Thanks tomb for the replies. I'm currently attending an intense 3 month training program. Im thinking I'll probably give in and wear them soon.

Update: so I've started work. I'm currently in training this past 3 months. The first month no other men had earrings. The 2nd month at another office several trainers had earrings. I'm just now back home and about to start work for the area I will be stationed at. As far as I know none of the other men in my area wear earrings. I'm hesitant to be the first as I'm not sure if it will effect my chances for future promotions.

Anyone withholding advancement for anything recognized in the HR handbook has no business in management. I'd still quietly wear Geckos the first day.

Today I finally had the chance to ask my boss if earrings are allowed. He said he didn't know about men but would find out and get back to me.

Hope I haven't affected my career over something so trivial!!!

At my job there's only one other guy who has his ears pierced. He has his lobes done, and I'm the only one with their helix done. I've only had three people say anything about. One manager asking who pierced my ear, and when I got it done, and two other crew members. Both were actually curious about how painful it was to get done.

Country that's awesome you can wear earrings at work! I've worked some jobs that will allow me to wear them and others that won't. I only have my lobes pierced and stretched to 10g. You can't see through my ears. To work at previous jobs I've typically worn fairly small diamonds. I had 2 compliments. My previous manager said I looked good with them and a coworker said she liked my earrings.

I feel my current job is a place I can finally launch my career. I really like it. I want to wear my earrings I just don't want them to effect my ability to get promotions. I was really torn on asking my boss but today I did just that. Waiting to see if he gives me a response in the coming days. Even if I get a positive response I am wondering if it would effect my advancement opportunities. Im just not sure.

On a side note if it weren't for work I'd like to add a Tragus piercing on one ear and a helix or industrial on my other! But for now I'm happy to stick with only my lobes. It might be less is more in terms of how I look with them! And I'd be doing good if I could wear only my lobes to work without it effect my advancement!!!
